Katharine
Esty, an organizational psychologist by training, is a founder
and Managing Partner of Ibis Consulting Group, Inc. She specializes
in diversity initiatives, women’s leadership, and strategic
planning. Her expertise is in large systems change, culture
change initiatives and the future search methodology. Katharine
combines her years of experience as a manager, consultant, and
trainer into an integrated consulting approach for improving
organizational effectiveness and managing change efforts at
the individual and system levels.
Katharine
assisted a Fortune 100 company to develop a Diversity Strategic
Plan. After conducting a diversity assessment, she worked with
the Director of Diversity and the Steering Committee to create
strategic priorities and chart a new course for the company.
Other examples of her client work include a three year culture
change effort at a quasi-governmental organization to encourage
the advancement of women. At a large university, Katharine facilitated
the work of a university-wide task force to develop a new and
innovative Career Development System. Katharine has also led
strategic planning efforts in Bangladesh, Nepal, Jordan, Malawi
and Indonesia.
Katharine’s
clients represent a broad range of organizations including Chevron,
the Department of Environmental Protection, Gillette, Hallmark
Healthcare, Harvard University, Lesley University, Massachusetts
General Hospital, Navistar, Raytheon, SmithKline Beecham, State
Street Corporation, UNICEF, and the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Katharine
articles include, How Effective Managers Make Things Happen,
Dealing with Downsizing, Issues for Women Managers, Group Methods
for Transformation, and Changing Corporate Culture to Support
Work and Family. She also co-authored a book titled, Workplace
Diversity: A Manager’s Guide to Solving Problems and Turning
Diversity into a Competitive Advantage, which provides the
basis for our recently completed eLearning program, Workplace
Diversity. Katharine received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology
from Boston University and her B.A. from Smith College where
she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. An NTL member for fifteen,
years she has served as Chair of the Board of the Millennium
Institute and the Williston Northampton School.
