For a diversity assessment, Ibis uses two main data collection methods – surveys and focus groups. Surveys, often online, provide quantitative data from many respondents which can serve as a benchmark in future years. Focus groups provide qualitative data that allows us to delve more deeply into key issues. As the situation requires, we also analyze data from one on one interviews, existing reports and documents, and on-site observations. We work closely with a Steering Committee at every stage of the process from the initial planning of the assessment to evaluation of the resulting diversity initiatives.
The benefits of an assessment are:
• in depth information about the workplace experience of employees
• increased knowledge about supports and barriers to inclusion
• a basis for action planning
• a benchmark from which to measure progress
• momentum for change
